What are the different types of braces available?
Metal braces are most commonly recommended for those patients for whom appearance of the braces is not a concern.

Ceramic braces are a lot less visible than metal braces and are recommended for those patients who are conscious about the appearance of their braces.

Self ligating braces are advanced variety of braces that do not require rubber bands to hold the wire. They have the following advantages
a) Reduced overall treatment time
b) Ease of cleaning
c) Less frequent appointments
d) More comfortable
e) Gentler forces during treatment
They are available in metal and ceramic

Clear Aligners or Invisalign are a series of customised, highly accurate clear plastic appliances used as an alternative to braces for alignment of teeth. They are removable and are extremely esthetic.

How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the nature of the problem the treatment can take about 1- 3 years, the average time being about 20 months.
Is there a particular right age for treatment?
The American Association of Orthodontists and the Indian Orthodontic Society recommend the 1st braces check up at 7yrs. Most commonly the age of commencing active orthodontic treatment is about 11-13 yrs. However teeth can me moved with braces at any age as long as they are healthy. The oldest patient in our practice is 71 yrs old!!!
How much does the treatment cost?
Depending on the type of braces and the nature of your problem, braces can cost anywhere ranging from 40000/- to 90000/- . Aligners generally start from 80000/- onwards.
